Co-facilitated by our Teaching Artists
Over the summer, Asian American LEAD (AALEAD) offered a camp to empower youth to take control of their own story. They invited our Teaching Artists to co-facilitate a day-long workshop on the role that the arts can play in amplifying stories and advocating for the needs of our communities. Over 60 Maryland youth learned about spoken word, music and free styling, graphic art and design. After sharing their stories, our Teaching Artists challenged the youth to present their own "stories of self" in a way that builds trust and collective power. At the end of the day, the youth created 10 joint storybooks to model the process and power of collaboration across difference..
